PPB UIN Jakarta Introduces Indonesian Culture to BIPA Learners
Ciputat, PPB UIN Jakarta - UIN Jakarta's Language Development Center (PPB) held a cultural introduction program for Indonesian Language for Foreign Speakers (BIPA) learners. The BIPA learners from Mexico, Turkey and China were invited to experience firsthand the beauty of Indonesian traditional music through the training of traditional musical instruments namely Gamelan and Angklung at Saung Mang Ashly, Jalan Pesanggrahan, East Ciputat, Thursday (11/14/2024).
This cultural introduction activity was designed to enrich the knowledge and experience of BIPA learners in understanding Indonesian language and culture. The BIPA learners were very enthusiastic about participating in this series of activities because this is where they got the opportunity to learn to play traditional musical instruments guided directly by experienced local artists.
Through this cultural introduction activity, it shows that the BIPA Program at the UIN Jakarta Language Development Center (PPB) does not only focus on language development but is also able to introduce the variety of Indonesian culture to the world.
Neneng Nurjannah as the BIPA Coordinator participated in the introduction of culture to foreign students who are studying at UIN Jakarta. For her, this is very useful for foreign students to introduce the variety of Indonesian culture when returning to their home countries.
“With this activity, BIPA learners can certainly bring stories of their experiences about Indonesian culture when they return to their respective countries,” said Neneng who also teaches as a lecturer at FITK UIN Jakarta. (Alfina Ika Arianti)
