Ciputat, PPB UIN Jakarta – Center for Language Development of UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta received a visit from Daar El Qolam Islamic Boarding School on Friday, 21 February 2025. The visit was conducted in order to conduct TOAFL Orientation Class. Daar El-Qolam said that this activity aims to improve and measure the Arabic language skills of the students.

“We chose PPB UIN Jakarta because we have hopes. Hopefully, during this class the students can improve their Arabic language skills that are recognised by religious institutions and can communicate with Arabic both actively and passively,” he said.

The Head of PPB UIN Jakarta, Kustiwan, S.Ag., M.A., Ph.D., welcomed and was enthusiastic about the arrival of Daar El-Qolam students in the TOAFL orientation programme. He also hopes that the services and programmes offered by PPB UIN Jakarta can be useful for pesantren in Banten and generally in Indonesia.

“The TOAFL test service at PPB UIN Jakarta is useful for measuring the extent to which a student understands Arabic. We hope that the presence of Daar El Qolam students at UIN Jakarta Language Development Centre can gain useful knowledge and experience and one day can continue their studies in Middle Eastern countries,” he explained.

In addition to class orientation, Daar El-Qolam students also take the TOAFL exam.  In order to get the best score, Muhammad Anas Lc., M.A., as the Arabic Language coordinator at PPB UIN Jakarta provides tips and tricks to get the maximum score.

“In the istima' session, in addition to listening to the audio that is being played, as much as possible participants read quickly and understand the answers available simultaneously. He also advised, don't be fooled by other answers!Be careful because there are many synonyms of words that can be tricky when choosing these answers,” he explained.

As a form of appreciation for the enthusiasm of Daar El Qolam students, PPB UIN Jakarta provided certificates of appreciation to the students before carrying out the TOAFL Test.This is to support the spirit of the participants to face the test in the next session.

The ‘Best Participant’ category certificate was given to Rasyam Rafiu Rashid Asyhari and the ‘Most Active Participant’ certificate was given to Ahmad Haikal Mustafiq.

Hopefully, with this activity, the students can strengthen their Arabic language skills and continue their studies in Middle Eastern universities. (Rizky Zaenulloh)
