Harun Nasution Auditorium, PPB UIN Jakarta - In order to improve the foreign language skills of UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta students, UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta Language Development Center officially launched the Intensive Training of 1000 Language Ambassadors with the theme Grab the Opportunity, Unleash Your Potential, and Collaborate Globally. The official launch was held at Harun Nasution Auditorium, Friday (13/10/23).

Head of UIN Jakarta Language Development Center, Kustiwan, S.Ag., M.A., Ph.D. in his speech revealed that the training was carried out in line with the direct recommendation of UIN Jakarta Rector Prof. Asep Saepudin Jahar, M.A., Ph.D. The recommendation was mainly due to the need for a support system for foreign language proficiency.

The follow-up of the recommendation is then packaged in the form of Intensive Training for 1000 Language Ambassadors. This activity aims to improve foreign language skills, the ability to speak at international conferences, and prepare students for student exchange programs and scholarships abroad.

“The Language Center will produce 1000 language ambassadors within 4 years, and students will have the opportunity to communicate directly with selected native speakers, we will also provide opportunities for 250 best students for international certification from the Englishscore British Council who have been invited to work together” he said.

In his opening remarks, UIN Jakarta Rector Prof. Asep Saepudin Jahar, M.A., Ph.D welcomed the Intensive Training of 1000 Language Ambassadors. “It is a great opportunity to be able to take part in this training, you must remember that language is a gem to be able to explore knowledge” he said.

The event then continued with a public lecture by the Head of Al-Azhar Delegation for Indonesia, Dr. Fathallah Zukayzak Al-Azhari. In his presentation, Fathallah emphasized the role of students' mastery of foreign languages, namely English and Arabic in the context of the Internationalization of UIN Jakarta.
“Sunnah is the words or takrir of the Prophet, and the Prophet Muhammad SAW, used Arabic.Yes, English is the language of the world. 
But Arabic is the language of the world and the hereafter, we need to know Arabic. You are the youth of today who are needed to master two languages, namely English and Arabic, “he said firmly.

The activity itself was filled with the delivery of messages and impressions by 1000 elected language ambassadors, English by Fahira Juvina from the Psychology Department, “I am so grateful to be chosen as one of 1000 language ambassadors, I hope to play an active role in this developing era, I believe practice not only makes perfect, but practice will always make us improve” she said.

Then the 100 language ambassadors chosen for Arabic, Rizkikatiara from the Dirasat Islamiyah department said that “In this day and age we are lucky because favors come to us, scholars used to have to struggle to seek knowledge” Rizkikatiara also added that with the facilities we get, we hope to help the community and uphold our University with language.
